Erin Works for Warner Bros.

Well, since I was posting about Eric's new store, I thought I would also post about Erin's work.  She is currently employed with Warner Bros. Studios.  It was her dream to work for Warner Bros.  She has had an exciting time and I love hearing about all the celebrities that she meets.  She has worked on the Conan show and the Ellen show.  She has met many producers, directors, and stars and recently was in a shot on the Ellen show with Heidi Klum.

Erin said you have to start at the bottom and work your way up in this industry.  I know that she will get her break and a production assistant position will open up for her.  In time, she will have her opportunity to be a producer.  It takes time.  Congratulations Erin!  We are very proud of you.

FIVE GUYS IS OPEN!!!

I am so excited for Eric.  He is the manager of the new Five Guys located in Spokane Valley.  This is the second Five Guys located in Eastern Washington.  He opened the first Five Guys location and now is the manager of this location.  I am very excited to see this new style of Five Guys to compare with the others I have been in.

Larry and I are taking a trip to Washington this coming weekend for Eric's first weekend opening.  It should be very exciting.  I know we will not be able to spend much time with Eric since he will be at the store the majority of the time, but it will still be exciting.

Way to go Eric!!!  We are very proud of you.

Erin and Karl Graduate From College

It has been almost a year since Erin and Karl graduated from Academy of Art University. What an exciting time. The day was beautiful and dinner afterwards with family was a lot of fun. After dinner, we all went back to Erin and Karl's apartment to finish up the packing so they could begin their next adventure in North Hollywood, CA. The move took place the very next day. Driving from Alameda, CA to North Hollywood, CA.

GOOD LUCK ERIN AND KARL ON YOUR NEW ADVENTURES!!!

Cookies, Cookies, and More Cookies!!

What a crazy time Larry and I had during the month of February and March 2011. Larry is the Service Unit Cookie Manager for 4 different Girl Scout service units in Eastern Idaho. That meant that when all the cookies were ready to be delivered, the semi truck would be delivering the cookies to our house! It was an adventure. Larry had it all planned out for the layout of the cookies. When the semi arrived, they said the truck held half of the order. They would need to go get another semi half full for the rest. We ended up with over 5,500 cases of cookies. Each case has 12 boxes of cookies, so you do the math! That is over 60,000 boxes of cookies sitting in our garage. It was crazy. Thankfully all the cookies were picked up in a day so we had our garage back. We could never have distributed all those cookies if it hadn't been for our friends, Michael and Marcia Yates. They were wonderful! Although they may never agree to help out again. It was a very long day. For the month of March, the girls were all selling cookies through booth sales so, of course, we housed the cookies for the Cookie Cupboard. Cookies are now finished for the year. I don't think we want to see another box of cookies ... well, maybe some Thin Mints would be nice.

Fun in Idaho

I thought I would write about some of the things Larry and I are fortunate enough to do up here in Idaho. Before we moved here, we both spent many long hours on the freeway commuting back and forth to work. Life pretty much was work, home, sleep, repeat. Weekends were time to catch up on housework and things like that. Up here, we have the opportunity to take off and go somewhere on the weekends. Wherever you go, you will see something new and fantastic. My favorite thing to do is photograph old barns or pretty much anything to do with the outdoors. This weekend we drove to Pocatello, enjoyed one of the home and garden shows at the Holt Arena (Idaho State University) and I took pictures (on my phone) of old barns along the I-15. We still had plenty of time to watch a movie, finish up some painting, watch the golf game, and just do absolutely nothing, if we choose. Definitely the easy life!!

Arches National Park

What a wonderful place!! Larry and I had a wonderful trip to Arches NP. We enjoyed hiking to see many beautiful arches and the geology of the park. We didn't hike as much as we are used to, but we did get in at least 11 miles of hiking. Our campsite was right on the Colorado River just out of Moab. We enjoyed that much better than being in the campground inside the park. We were able to take some time and go visit Canyonlands National Park. We definitely want to go spend more time there. We only did a small amount of hiking there. The little town of Moab is very cute and we enjoyed shopping and wandering around the town. We decided that Arches was a place we will visit more often and we know Eric and Erin would love it too!!

Bryce Canyon

Well, I was right. The adult I was concerned about was a problem from the time we started until we got back. What a nightmare of a trip!!! The girls were very disrespectful, you had to ask them over and over (at least 8 times or more) to do something and then they would just look at you and go about their business. Some girls snuck in a DVD player and went into the bathroom at night to watch movies. One of the adults allowed the DVD player against my rules of no electronics. One of the girls mouthed off to me. I believe the adults/parents lied about the abilities of their girls just so they could go on the trip. One of the girls enjoyed fire a little too much. I had to take the ignitor away from her and she got mad at me. I guess I ended up being the bad guy. Sharing ... what is that? These girls didn't know what that was! I have never experienced this type of behavior on one of these trips, even from adults. At least it is over!!!

Bryce Canyon

We are leaving in the morning for Bryce Canyon with 10 teenage girls. Should be interesting. There is one adult coming along that I am concerned about. She seems to be the "rebel" and I don't think she likes to follow directions and will probably do her "own thing." We'll have to wait and see ...
